It writes, sells, and services mainly prime rate for single-family homes through its Countrywide Home Loans subsidiary. The company's segments are mortgage banking, capital markets, insurance, banking, and global which are joint venture with Barclays to provide mortgage servicing in the United Kingdom.

In may 2001 Countrywide opened Treasury bank which offers consumers highly competitive rates on certificates of deposit, money market and individual retirement accounts.
